Columbia wins the Louis Vuitton USC2 challenge for the 4th year in a row!
Every year, Louis Vuitton organises a worldwide Supply Chain Contest. Teams from everywhere in the world compete, tackling real world distribution challenges and using state of the art tools and techniques.
This year, 5 students from the IEOR department (IE, OR and MS&E programs) worked hand in hand with Louis Vuitton to develop a solution using Artificial Intelligence. The final product combined both a Neural Network model for image recognition, and a Recommendation Algorithm for their women leather goods business. The objective was to help Clients Advisors in the store to display better windows and thus increase sales and revenue.
The team presented the project in the early morning (to accommodate for Paris' time) in the form of Hack-A-Pitch in Louis Vuitton's office in New York. They pitched in front of various representatives from Louis Vuitton, including several Directors of Supply Chain and Logistics. Columbia's team won the contest, ahead of Paris and Hong-Kong.
