Columbia IEOR Alumnus Rachitesh Kumar Receives Honorable Mention in 2025 SIGecom Doctoral Dissertation Award

The ACM Special Interest Group on Economics and Computation (SIGecom) has awarded Dr. Rachitesh Kumar, a recent PhD graduate of Columbia University’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), an Honorable Mention in the 2025 SIGecom Doctoral Dissertation Award for his dissertation titled “Budget Management in Auctions: Bidding Algorithms and Equilibrium Analysis.”

His dissertation was co-advised by Professors Christian Kroer and Santiago Balseiro, both faculty members in the IEOR department at Columbia Engineering. Kumar’s primary research interests are game theory and data-driven optimization, with a focus on applications in revenue management and auction markets. In Fall 2025, Kumar will join Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Operations Management.
