Adam Elmachtoub, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia University, has been awarded the 2024 Donald P. Gaver, Jr. Early Career Award for Excellence in Operations Research. INFORMS bestows the award at its Annual Meeting.
Professor Elmachtoub is recognized "for outstanding research contributions at the interface of operations research, machine learning, and optimization; for the creativity and impact of his research collaborations within both the private and public sectors; and his outstanding contributions to the education and mentoring of students.”
In addition to his work in IEOR, Elmachtoub is also a member of the Data Science Institute at Columbia and an Amazon Visiting Academic. He has previously received an NSF CAREER Award, IBM Faculty Award, 1st place in the INFORMS JFIG (Junior Faculty) Paper Competition, Great Teacher Award from the Society of Columbia Graduates, and was on Forbes 30 under 30 in science.
