Congratulations to Professor Elmachtoub and Yunjie Sun (IEOR PhD Alum) for being named a finalist
Omar Besbes (DRO Faculty), Adam Elmachtoub (IEOR Faculty), and Yunjie Sun (IEOR PhD) were named Finalists in both the Wagner Prize for Excellence in OR Practice and the Revenue Management & Pricing Practice Award. This is for the papers "Pricing Analytics for Rotable Spare Parts" and "Static Pricing: Universal Guarnatees for Reusable Resources".
Raghav Singal comes second in the INFORMS RMP Student Paper Award
For his paper "Shapley Meets Uniform: An Axiomatic Framework for Attribution in Online Advertising" (with Professors Omar Besbes, Antoine Desir, Vineet Goyal, and Garud Iyengar), Raghav Singal won the second prize in the inaugural INFORMS Jeff McGill Revenue Management and Pricing (RMP) Student Paper Award. The prize committee received around 40 submissions, out of which 6 finalists presented their work at the INFORMS conference in Seattle (Oct 20 to 23, 2019).
Xiao Lei has been awarded 2019 IBM Best Student Paper Award in Service Science
In the past INFORMS annual conference, Xiao Lei won 1st place in the IBM Service Science Best Student Paper Award. The paper is "Loot Box Pricing and Design" and is joint work with two IEOR alumni Michael Hamilton and Ningyuan Chen, as well as IEOR Professor Adam Elmachtoub.
Congratulations to Humoud Alsabah for winning the Finance Section Student Prize
The Department would like to congratulate Humoud Alsabah for winning the Finance Section Student Prize of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS 2019). The title of his study is "Pitfalls of Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work: R&D Arms Race and Mining Centralization", which is joint work with Professor Agostino Capponi. The Financial Section Student Prize was established in 2004 and is awarded to recognize outstanding work by students in the area of finance and financial services.

The Department would like to congratulate Humoud Alsabah being a finalist in Doing Good with Good OR - Student Paper Competition of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS 2019). The title of his study is "Multiregional Oligopoly with Capacity Constraints", which is joint work with Benjamin Bernard, Agostino Capponi, Garud Iyengar, and Jaychandran Sethuraman. Humoud joined the department in Fall 2014 and his advisor throughout the years has been Professor Agostino Capponi. The Doing Good with Good OR Student Paper Competition was established in 2009 and is held each year to identify and honor outstanding projects in the field of operations research and the management sciences conducted by a student or student group that have a significant societal impact.
Congratulations to Tony Qin (IEOR PhD Alum), winner of the Wagner 2019 Prize Awards
Congratulations to Tony Qin (IEOR PhD Alum) and his collaborators at DiDi for winning the 2019 Wagner Prize at INFORMS. Their paper titled "Ride-hailing Order Dispatching on DiDi via Reinforcement Learning" focuses on "[formulating] a better algorithm that improves driver income, is “fair” to the driver pool, and yet maintains a high satisfaction rate for riders."
