Yuchen Hu

Yuchen Hu’s research focuses on guiding data-driven decision-making in complex environments using tools from causal inference and decision theory. She develops statistically principled and practically deployable methods for designing data-collection mechanisms and for analyzing data to support reliable decisions. A central theme in her work is addressing the challenges that arise when data and decisions interact in complex ways, for example in dynamic and partially observed environments, in networked systems with interference, and in settings with strategic behavior and incentives. Much of her research is motivated by applications in digital platforms and healthcare systems. 

Hu received her Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. Before joining Columbia, she was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems at MIT.
