Hyemi Kim

Hyemi Kim is a PhD candidate at Columbia University whose research focuses on socially responsible operations. She develops analytical models to understand how fairness interventions affect stakeholders and system performance. Her work spans urban mobility, decentralized energy systems, and algorithmic pricing, combining tools from revenue management, queueing, and machine learning. Her job market paper, "Fair Fares for Vehicle-Sharing Systems," examines pricing regulations that promote price fairness across locations or equitable access to service and demonstrates how these interventions can have different effects on consumer surplus and platform revenue. The paper was selected as a finalist for both the INFORMS TSL Best Student Paper Award and the INFORMS DEI Best Student Paper Award.
