PhD Orientation 2009-2010
Welcome to the IEOR Department!
It was a pleasure to meet you all in March and look forward to seeing you all at this year’s orientation in August. We hope your time here will be stimulating and we look forward to having you all on board.
If you have not done so please read our Doctoral Student Handbook. This handbook will provide useful information for your entire residence. Please use this book as a reference going forward.
You have already been notified that our Departmental MS and PhD Orientation Day is scheduled for Thursday, August 27th in Davis Auditorium. Enter through campus at 116th Street and then walk north. Davis Auditorium is located in the Schapiro Center towards the north end of the Morningside campus. Please click below for a map of the campus:

Please bring your visa, passport, I94, and I20, and Social Security card with you. If you can not make it please email Ms. .
All students must complete the following forms:
- PhD Information Sheet
- Employment Eligibility (I-9 form)- please complete the first part online by visiting:
www.hr.columbia.edu/hr/misc-pages/newhire/index.html
Then go to 210 Kent Hall with your IDs to complete the remainder of the form.

Social Security Card
If you are an international student, you must visit ISSO (International Students and Scholar Office) as soon as possible. You will need to apply for a Social Security card. Please follow the link below for instructions:

These forms will need to be completed by Thursday, August 27th. Any delay in the processing of these forms will result in a delay in your stipends. I will collect all forms on Orientation Day, during our afternoon meeting session.
