Irene is a Director at R/GA, leading the Connected Media Lab. She is responsible for identifying opportunities in electronic media markets and designing data-driven algorithmic trading strategies for digital media. Prior to R/GA, Irene worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a key business analyst for the delta one trading desk, and Securities and Exchange Commission as a quantitative researcher, analyzing trading strategies of hedge funds.
Irene received a PhD and master's degree in operations research from Columbia University, and has bachelor's degrees in both mathematics and east Asian languages & literature from Smith College. Her doctoral research focused on quantitative approaches to asset selection and portfolio construction. Her current research interests include portfolio optimization, machine learning, marketing mix modeling, and sentiment analysis using social media.
