Hanan Luss is a senior scientist at Telcordia Technologies. Since joining Telcordia in 1998, Hanan has focused on models, optimization methods, and analysis for telecommunications network design and performance problems. From 1973 to 1998, Hanan was at AT&T Bell Laboratories and AT&T Labs. Most of these years, he served as the technical manager of the Operations Research Studies Group, and was responsible for operations research methodology and applications with an emphasis on telecommunications network design, resource allocation, and supply chain management (manufacturing, distribution, and inventory). Hanan has published over 65 papers in major scientific journals on resource allocation; facility location, routing, and network design; capacity expansion and production planning; and other related topics. He serves as an adjunct professor, teaching operations research courses, at Columbia University. He also taught at the University of Pennsylvania. He edited a special issue on optimization for the AT&T Technical Journal, received/applied for seven patents, and has given numerous talks at professional meetings and universities. Hanan received a Ph.D. in operations research (1973) from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of INFORMS and has served on various committees, including chairing the INFORMS prize committee.
