Chen graduated from the doctoral program in 2014. Chen's research interests focused on risk management and optimal control for stochastic systems. He worked on various applications, including systemic risk measures, contagion effects in networks, auctions and mechanism design, and online review systems. Before coming to Columbia, he attended Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and obtained a BSc degree in Physics (Physics and Math) and Computer Science. Chen also visited Northwestern University as an exchange student. Chen has enjoyed working with his advisers Prof. Garud Iyengar from IEOR and Prof. Ciamac Moallemi from Columbia Business School.
