Akshay Purohit is a Fellow at Teach for India, part of the global Teach for All network. Modeled on Teach for America, Teach for India is a non-profit organization that aims to eliminate educational inequity in India by recruiting the nation's most passionate and high-achieving college graduates and young professionals to teach for 2 years in low-income schools across the country.
In addition to his role in the classroom, Akshay is also part of the Fellowship Recruitment Committee at Teach For India, and is focusing on strengthening the movement's international recruitment. He is also part of a team that is building a set of standards and objectives that will make up a new, nationwide History curriculum for Teach For India.
Akshay graduated cum laude with a B.S. degree in OR:Engineering Management Systems on the Undergraduate Advanced Track.
