Recipients of the Zvi Galil award best exemplify the spirit of  improving engineering student life during the academic year through either a commitment to the engineering profession or through integration of engineering with other sectors of the university. The awardee could also be selected for demonstrating resourcefulness and a commitment to expanding the awareness of the engineering field and the engineering community on campus. CU INFORMS has demonstrated an ability to not only overcome the challenge of starting anew but they have also focused on improving engineering student life at Columbia in a variety of ways. CU INFORMS' wide array of programming from the Global Leadership conference, the Big & Little Mentorship program, and their career panel (to name a few) demonstrates their commitment to building community amongst their membership, the Industrial Engineering & Operations Research department, and the larger campus. CU INFORMS has fully demonstrated a resourcefulness as well as commitment to strengthening to engineering student life.
